Online Physiotherapy Video Consultations
As a response to the unfolding COVID19 outbreak, we have decided to offer video consultations as an alternative to face to face consultations.
This service is available to all and we have tried make it available through as many apps as possible.
This was actually a service we were working towards providing later in the year. But given the current circumstances we have now brought forward as the situation demands some clever solutions.
The idea of online physiotherapy often brings questions so we’ve decided to do the FAQ below.
To book online, please click here, or call us on 0161 9759299

Much of the information a physio needs is gained from the conversation they have with you prior to the physical part of the assessment.
The physical part of the assessment is then used to add more detail to the physio’s working hypothesis.
Quite a bit of the physical assessment can be performed by asking you to demonstrate a movement and many of the “hand’s on” tests can be adapted so you can do them yourself.
Very occasionally it may not be possible to give a diagnosis without performing a hand’s on test, but your physio will let you know when this is the case.
We at Heaton Moor Physiotherapy are evidence-based practitioners.
This means we always follow the latest evidence from research.
Currently, Heaton Moor Physiotherapy’s assessment of the evidence is that most “hand’s on” treatment methods are assistive in recovery, but not essential.
Hand’s on physiotherapy will often provide relief from a symptom.
But the evidence tells us that it will not necessarily speed up or improve the quality of the recovery.
People who have been to Heaton Moor Physiotherapy will know that we place an emphasis on self-management and education.
We use “hand’s on” techniques to help assist the recovery when they are useful,
But for many people, “hand’s on” therapy is not necessary and in certain circumstances, may even slow your recovery down.
Our follow up sessions will involve an in-depth talk with you about where your rehab is up to, what you achieved and what you found hard.
We will then assess any relevant biomechanics and revise your plan to suit.
This is a very empowering way to work, you get to learn the techniques of self-management and gain confidence in your recovery while having us on your side as your personal coaching and support team.
We will also send you a personalised programme using our exercise prescription software.
Currently, our favoured app is Zoom as it allows us certain control over the chat, like showing you our screen and other videos while we chat.
A download is required for zoom to work. For your android phone, the link can be found here.
You must download the relevant app for your android or apple phone prior to joining a zoom meeting.
If you use a web browser on a laptop or desktop, then you can join before you download the Web Client.
But you will be asked to install it at that point.
You do not need an account to join a meeting.
Instructions on how to join a meeting can be found here.
These all require prior registration and have their own apps and software.
They are not as fully featured as Zoom. But are still useable and often easy to use if you are familiar with them.
We can also use WhatsApp, but this will significantly degrade the quality of the experience for you.
So recommend you only use this if you really cannot use any of the other options
Please let us know which one you would like to use & we will arrange the meeting.
For ease of use and overall experience for you, we recommend Zoom.
But if you want to use any of the other options please ensure to forward us your relevant username or email address.
Video calling is high bandwidth and will eat up your data. Please make sure you are on wifi or have an unlimited plan.
